Georgia Population Trend

The Caspian Policy Center has collected data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the State Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States to determine the population trend of Georgia since 1991. After establishing independence in 1991, Georgia experienced a rapid population decline in the 1990s, decreasing from 5,453,300 in 1991 to 4,037,500 in 2001. Between 2001 and 2023, the population decline stagnated and decreased from 4,037,500 in 2001 to 3,736,400 in 2023. Overall, between establishing independence in 1991 and 2023, Georgia's population declined by 31.5%.
