Afghanistan possesses significant cultural, historical, and economic ties to the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. It borders three Central Asian republics – Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The political happenings in Afghanistan directly affect regional stability, and discussions about Afghanistan’s uncertain political future should include Caspian countries. Panelists will speak about Afghanistan’s ties to the Caspian region and the role that Caspian countries can play to further engage Afghanistan in regional discussions.
