This year has been a busy and eventful one for the Caspian Region, and by extension the Caspian Policy Center (CPC). We have spent the year covering the growing importance of our region’s energy and critical mineral resources, the build out of the Middle Corridor, geo-political shifts enveloping the South Caucasus, and the on-going impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
Our region is seeing monumental changes. The countries of Central Asia are undergoing a period of rapid change, building stronger relationships with one another as they seek to tackle shared problems and take advantage of new economic opportunities. In the South Caucasus, politics are moving dramatically as Armenia and Azerbaijan work to normalize relations, which could provide peace dividends by propelling further East-West connectivity. At the same time, the United States saw its own political shake-up with a Presidential election and an incoming change of leadership. As our region faces new challenges and opportunities, CPC’s work becomes all the more important.
CPC’s focus allows us to provide meticulous reporting and analyses of these changes. We continue to produce weekly newsletters, long reports, audio and video content, and regular short timely pieces of analysis. The following document represents our summary of this year, broken down by country and drawn from our weekly-media highlights with short summaries of the major trends that 2024 saw.
At CPC we look forward to providing our readership with our coverage of the region, both in written form and through the regular events we hold in Washington D.C.
